B-U-L-L-Y ING & IES

In ISKL Melawati on my fourth and fifth grade, I have seen various types of bullying. In fourth grade, there was a boy who likes sports, but the boy doesn't play sportive. Let's call this boy Johny, he was a true lover of playing soccer every break time, but he was also a true lover of getting bullied at the same time! Most of the boy bullies excuse was that Johny started it first, can you believe that these bullies said something that was quite right? It's because most people that plays soccer with him became a bully to him, Johny's soccer tackles are 90 percent like what you would see in real, live soccer matches! Wether if Johny played soccer too rough, the point is, bullying are always wrong. Why didn't they tell teachers, so that Johny could be banned from playing it, grown ups will agree because almost everyone he tackled ends up in the nurse...

Later in the middle of fifth grade, I observed another bullying event. While I was walking down stairs heading to the administration office, I saw a girl crying, slouching to monkey-bars pole at the playground on class time. I ran to a wall near by the monkey bars, so I can look at her closer what might made her cry. As it turns out, her left arm was bleeding! Before I knew it, I was there beside her asking what happened. She told me about the whole story considered me as a best friend, she told me that a boy from her class did a scar on her with a pen. That's when I realized that there were some blue tint mixed with the blood. I asked her if she wanted to go to the nurse, why didn't she? I just figured out after she told me about it, she was one of the nicest girl I met! She told me, a similar experience happened to her before, her parent had to move her because of a bully, that was the reason why. But I still kept on encouraging her to go to the nurse and tell, it's not good for anybody to keep any peer pressure, I gave her suggestions to tell her parents and talk to the bully face to face.

What I see about the word ''bullying'' is, every piece of information contained in it is completely wrong, nobody can do anything that effects bad feelings to anyone. My goals suggestion to make a better control of this bad situations in ISKL erased is to stand up and involve a grown up if needed to. If anyone see a bullying action is to report a counselor so that International School of Kuala Lumpur and your friends would perform the best role model to other students or even schools! :DDDD

My Courage

www.paranormalknowledge.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/03/darkness.jpg&imgrefur

I've been scared of the dark since I was two. Darkness has always been my biggest fear; I could only manage to go in the dark with somebody accompanying me. To be left in the dark at sleeping time, or even worse in a room with somebody else who was already asleep, I feel uncomfortable. All I wanted to do is just waking the person up, so then I don't feel all alone. I always try to stay away from darkness such as going up to the third floor in my house at night. If somebody asks me to, I would make the best excuse possible until the he or she decides to ask another person. My mom has always been annoyed by my ridiculous fear. She thinks that a boy at my age should not be afraid of darkness anymore.

It has only been months after my 10th year birthday that I finally encourage myself to go against my fear. It started when my parents left me with my sister Juwita at home. She likes to spend her time in her room. I was alone watching Star World in the living room when suddenly the lights went out. I panicked, shouted my sister’s name and there was no answer.  I took a few steps with my instinct but I accidently hit a wooden chair. Then I rushed in to my sister’s room. She was taking a shower. It would be ridiculous if I asked her to come out just because I was too scared.  From the shower room, she asked me to go to the third floor and turn the electricity back on.

I felt frightened, but deep inside my heart I know that this fear was not worth it after all. I had more confident to do it as I thought about what my sister would say to everyone if I said to her that I was scared. On the way up, I prayed and tried to believe that there is nothing to be afraid of. I almost cancelled what I was going to do when I think about why am I the one to do all the work when my sister is just waiting in her room, but luckily I see the benefits for me. I needed to face my fear. I have kept this fear for too long. With my courage I brought my self up to the third floor and put the fuse back on! Then I experienced that there was nothing to be frightened of and now I am happy to say that I am not scared of the dark anymore.

How can understanding the past, help us to understand the world?

I see that understanding the past taught us what happened and what is going to happen in the future. Take a very easy example about history, the story of Malaysian history is that it was colonized by England for hundred of years and got their independence day on the August 31st, 1957. If we don't learn anything about the past, we would not know when or how ours, or other countries had their independence. And as an International student, it is important to learn the culture of a country that you're living in. Even more, learning the past helps us to organize the knowledge available in the world today.

Understanding the past also helps us to know our beliefs. In some places people have their own beliefs for their group of people and make the history so that their later generation can follow their foot-steps and carry on their values and traditions. They will learn about their races and where they actually came from. In the last 6 years, BBC has on aired TV series about celebrities tracing their family tree. The show is called "Who Do You Think You Are?" Watching this show makes people think about their own history, how on earth did you get here?

The more you know about the past helps you to know more about who you are in the world. Organizing the facts about your family tree makes you understand yourself a little better. Traditions that your family are practicing right now, all comes from your fathers even forefathers. And now this is your job to pass it on to the future generation.
