I chose question number two "Why does Jonas find the instruction about lying so disturbing?"
I'll start off by telling you this; I do have a reason why I think Jonas find the instruction about lying so disturbing but, it is actually really disturbing for me that he hasn't lie at all! My first explanation of why I find it possible to not lie is the fact that everyone's future in the society had to be decided by the leaders. If you think about it, wouldn't it be more infrequent to lie about anything? Normally, bad lies from people are about getting a better cause for themselves or their friends. But when jobs have to be chosen, and there is no richer or poorer, what would you possibly lie about? I was thrilled when Jonas explained there were two different types of lie; unintentional lie or a lie, I just realized that! But when Jonas was stating that if someone says "I'm starving" they're not allowed, I was shocked because I can't see that word would be counted as a lie! Can you imagine an expression can't even be said if it's too extreme?
Another lay out of evidence for this question is, the monitors. From all I read in The Giver, it seems like monitors know everything! I can't imagine how hard it wold be to do something bad if I were to live in his society, I could get released! It would be too tragic getting knocked on the door and someone says that I need to talk to the police or the in charge one. That's another reason what I think supports Jonas' act about being so disturbed by saying a lie. As in Page 71, Jonas said that he had never, within his memory, been tempted to lie. Asher did not lie, Lily did not lie, His parents did not lie. No one did. This reason only can make this whole question answered. Even more from page 14, "Rules were very hard to change" Jonas' father said.
That was a good post Jorghi! I frequently enjoyed listening to your idea's and thoughts about how you find lying so unnecessary in communities. You added efficient information regarding of the question, but I found that most of them were opinions and not facts. What I mean by "Facts" is that you add more evidence and examples from the book so that your paragraphs and whatnot will become more well written. Just a tip!
